City of Murrieta

The City of Murrieta has consistently been one of the fastest growing cities in the United States since incorporating in 1991. Like its “Twin” city Temecula, Murrieta was where residential development took place in the booming cycles of the 1980s,  late 1990s and early 2000s. Today, the City is estimated to be 87 percent built out of residential land.

Murrieta encompasses approximately 33 square miles and is bordered by the City of Temecula to the South, the City of Wildomar to the north and the City of Menifee to the northeast. Its western border nudges up to the Santa Rosa Mountains and the communities of De Luz and La Cresta.

Like the other cities in Southwest Riverside County,  Murrieta was a dry farming and ranching community dating back to the 1880s. Historically a bedroom community,  Murrieta has played a major role in business attraction for Southwest Riverside County.

As Murrieta continues to expand in a north-easterly direction,  more than 2,000 acres have become available for upscale retail centers, quality hotels, research and development facilities, medical technology firms and first-rate healthcare facilities, according to the City’s website.

Murrieta is served by Rancho Springs Medical Center and the new Loma Linda University Medical Center Murrieta. Loma Linda University owns property surrounding the hospital, which is a part of a larger area slated to be developed as a “technology cluster” of research and development, bio tech, medical research, medical office and other related uses.

Located along the I-15 Corridor, the City of Murrieta is primed for commercial, industrial and economic growth. The Rancon Group, founded in 1971, is headquartered in Murrieta and has developed numerous major commercial, industrial and residential projects within the city and surrounding communities.
